She also frequents and paints yearly in Algonquin Park.

Christy depicts her landscapes in all four seasons. She uses pastel. graphite or watercolours and has been painting outside for more than 25 years.

She is an experienced woods-woman and has hiked, camped, canoed and kayaked in Killarney Park, Georgian Bay, and Algonquin Park for most of her life with her family and friends. She has also enjoyed a few solo trips as well. Christy usaully paint during these adventures with nature.

She holds an Honours Visual Arts Diploma and have been teaching art, drawing and painting for many years to children and adults alike. Recently, she has focused on teaching how to paint outside and in particular, how to paint while on extended camping trips canoeing, kayaking or hiking adventures. Christy have been teaching for over 9 years now "alla prima" and "en plein air" style painting annually at Camp Tanamakoon, in Algonquin Park and is the Artist in Residence during the month of August.

She teachs Women's Weekends annually each fall at Camp Wenonah in the Muskokas. Christy has been plein air painting every October for a week with renowned North American wildlife artist Dwayne Harty at "Images of Algonquin " at Camp Tanamakoon. Since 2014, she has been an Artist in Residence for Friends of Killarney Park, at Killarney Provincial Park, teaching forshops for a week each July.

Her favourite Canadian artists are Tom Thomson and Emily Carr. She admires their individuality and the way they were able to record and capture nature in paint, while living in the environment they painted about. They were in love with Canada and all the beautiful things it has to offer. Her interest in art are similar. She loves painting. She loves being outside in the wind, the silence, the smells, the weather of any sorts, but mostly Christy just enjoys capturing the moment in paint. "Painting is Pure Joy to me!"

Every year she has a Spring Awakening solo art exhibition, to showcase the "plein air" and "alla prima" from her annual month long adventures. She is on a twelve year path to paint all the months of the year outside. Christy has completed 6 months to date; May 2011, March 2012, October 2013, November 2014, June 2015, April 2016, marking halfway through this project. 2017 I will go in July.

"Please follow along on my 12 years journey to paint outside 365 days, as I see nature in that time and place. " - Christy A. Smith
