SUDBURY, ON – June 17, 2014 –The 8th annual Picture Our Lakes photography contest is now looking for the public to come in and vote for their favourite pictures of the lakes and water bodies that have been submitted . All submissions are on display at Artists on Elgin where the public is encouraged to visit. The public voting period will be on until July 5, 2014.

Artists on Elgin has received hundreds of photo submissions over the past few months from photographers of all ages and skill levels. The photo contest which is created into a calendar is now in its 8th year which has proved once again to be very popular among Sudbury's budding and professional photographers. The contest aims to raise awareness and appreciation for the natural beauty of Sudbury's water bodies, while encouraging the public to get involved and support the arts.

"The photos this year are stunning," said Courtney Natale business promotions co-ordinator for The Northern Artist Gallery/ Artists on Elgin. "I don't know how the public and judges will narrow it down to just thirteen!"

The Picture Our Lakes Photography Contest voting period will run from June 19- July 5 2014. The public is encouraged to stop in at the gallery's downtown location to vote for their favourites. The public favourites, winners of each category, and top thirteen photos will all be featured in the upcoming 2015 calendar.

"There are so many beautiful spots around our city," said Jessie Bond special events assistant for The Northern Artist Gallery/ Artists on Elgin. "It's great to be able to feature them within a calendar for other people to enjoy too."
