SUDBURY, ON – May 26, 2014 – Artists on Elgin will be featuring two local artists for the month of June. "The Outsiders" is a plein air exhibit featuring oil painter Sharon Preen, and pastel artist Susan Lampinen. Their painting expeditions produce spontaneous works that capture the light, colour and mood of a moment in time. Susan and Sharon invite you to see original paintings of Northern Ontario and to learn about the plein air process at their opening reception held at Artists on Elgin on Saturday, June 7 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The exhibit will be on display for public viewing throughout the month of June.

This unique exhibit features what living in the north is all about- the outdoors. These artists have come together to showcase their talents, and to teach others about the plein air process.

"My journey as a plein air artist began as an extension of journaling my outdoor adventures. Over time, as I moved from paper to canvas and boards, the images became the journal. Each painting becomes an invaluable source of learning, inspiration and release", said artist Sharon Preen.

The public is encouraged to attend the opening reception where Sharon and Susan will be in attendance to speak about their process. "The Outsiders" will be on display at Artists on Elgin throughout the month of June.

"This exhibit shows off some the most beautiful areas around us," said Courtney Natale, business promotions coordinator for The Northern Artist Gallery/ Artists on Elgin. "Sometimes we forget how lucky we are to live in a city where we're able to be so close to nature."

Artists on Elgin is located at 168 Elgin Street, and is open Monday to Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
