Artists on Elgin to Feature 'Drawn to Nature' by Colette Thériault
Award Winning Canadian Artist Emphasizes the Importance of Conservation

SUDBURY, ON (March 14, 2017)-Award Winning Canadian artist local to Sudbury, Colette Thériault, is set to exhibit at Artist on Elgin for the month of April. Well known for her captivating pet portraits, Colette's work is found in private and corporate collections around the globe. Thériault uses predominantly soft pastels or graphite to capture her subjects in a photo-realistic style.
Drawn to Nature is a collection of the artist's newest works depicting her deep admiration and empathy for all living things and emphasizing the importance for conservation.
"To me Mother Nature herself is a canvas in perpetual motion; I admire her and she inspires me to share the love and respect I have for her through my art," said Colette Thériault. "Whether wild or domestic, I strive to convey the animal's spirit and character. If I can captivate the viewers and bring them into my world of art, then I have truly succeeded."
Colette is a signature member of the prestigious Artists for Conservation, as well as an active member of the Northern Ontario Arts Association, The Sudbury Arts Council, The Sudbury Art Club and Artists on Elgin. Her latest achievement has seen her work accepted into The Pastel Journal's Pastel 100 International Competition as well as the 2016 Annual Exhibition of Nature in Art.
Theriault's passion for wildlife expands far beyond her art, she is currently an active volunteer for and supporter of Wild at Heart Wildlife Refuge Centre, Pet Save, The Canadian Wildlife foundation and The Canadian Peregrine Foundation.
The Public is encouraged to attend the opening reception for Drawn to Nature on Saturday, April 8, 2017 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm where Colette will be present to discuss her work. Light refreshments will also be served during the reception. The exhibition will be open to the public for the month of April at Artists on Elgin.
