Calling All Amateur and Professional Photographers to Capture Sudbury
Local Contest to Celebrate Canada's 150th and Sudbury's Rich History

SUDBURY, ON (February, 6, 2017)- To celebrate Canada's 150th anniversary Artists on Elgin would like to invite locals and visitors to join the newest community initiative, Capture Sudbury. The contest aims to represent the culture of Sudbury, take a deeper look at the city's rich history as well as provide a venue for amateur and professional photographers to have their work published and shared.

The Capture Sudbury photography contest encourages photographers of all ages to submit photos that highlight themes of Greater Sudbury's beauty and history. 150 winning photographs will be selected to be published as postcards and will be considered for other prizes in both youth and adult categories. Winners will be selected through public voting, involvement of community stakeholders, and a panel of jurors. The postcards will be announced and available for purchase on Canada's 150th anniversary, July 1, 2017.

"We have had a lot of interest in postcards at the store and with Canada's 150th anniversary just around the corner we thought it was a great match" said Muiriel Checkeris, Chair "Sudbury has some wonderful talent, a deep history and very interesting landmarks. We are hoping we will get some great historical photographs."
The Capture Sudbury photography contest is free to enter and open to all individuals. Entries must be submitted no later than April 3, 2017 and photographs must be taken within The City of Greater Sudbury limits to be considered for judging. Submissions may be made in person, by mail using USB or online at
