by NISA/Northern Initiative for Social Action
Presented by Artists on Elgin
February 1 –27, 2016

The Story of Us: A Narrative Painting Collective is open to the public at Artists on Elgin for the month of February. The reception will be held on Saturday, February 6th from 1 – 4 pm.

Under the guidance of Kim Mullin-Santone, 6 NISA artists met weekly over the course of three months to create a series of narrative mixed-media paintings. Each week focused on a new skill, including transfer and painting techniques, and the use of expressive colour. The goal of the Creative Expression workshop was to help the participants discover the colours, shapes, images, and feelings important to them in creating their narratives.

NISA/Northern Initiative for Social Action is an organization assisting individuals in using a variety of outlets to achieve and maintain mental wellness and recovery.

Once a year, Artists on Elgin/ The Northern Artist Gallery partners with a local not-for-profit organization for one month to provide a professional gallery space to display the work of their artists or artworks that promote the organization's cause.

Artists on Elgin is a project of its parent organization, The Northern Artist Gallery, where artists can exhibit, promote and sell their work in an attractive and professional gallery space. Artists on Elgin aims to build mutually beneficial partnerships between the artists and the community by addressing the business and marketing needs of the local art industry. Artists on Elgin is the ideal place to find that perfect gift for any occasion. Visit us online at www.artistsonelgin.ca, or visit our Facebook Page.
