SUDBURY, ON – December 28th, 2015

Breakthrough is open to the public from January 4th to January 30th. The reception will be held on January 9th, 2016, from 1 to 4 pm. Meet the artist and enjoy light refreshments.

When Ellie Lagrandeur paints, it's about the mood. Depicting primarily landscapes and wildlife, she plays with lighting and perspective to convey an atmosphere and connect the viewer to the artwork. Breakthrough features a collection of large-scale acrylic paintings, including the iconic view depicted in Spring Rush at Onaping Falls.

Born and raised in Sudbury, Lagrandeur started her career painting murals 27 years ago. Lagrandeur made a name for herself across North America with her public paintings, and settled down in Georgian Bay, switching from painting on walls to canvas. She has since returned to her native Sudbury, continuing to paint themes familiar to those living in the North.

"I love to paint wildlife; they seem to take on a familiarity, like I've known them."
