FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Life, Death and Letters from Home; an exhibit by Rosie Maddock

SUDBURY, ON – August 23, 2013– Artists on Elgin is excited to welcome Rosie Maddock for her solo exhibit entitled Life, Death and Letters from Home. This exhibit features mixed media artwork. It will be on display throughout the month of September at Artists on Elgin. The public is invited to meet Rosie during her opening reception on Saturday, September 7, 2013, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Rosie speaks of her work: "It is rooted in the qualities of drawing practice in its broadest sense: immediacy, directness, experimentation and playfulness. My interests lie as much in the reflective process of making work as in its outcome, and I hope to encourage the viewer to find their own readings of the work I produce."

Rosie arrived in Sudbury from the U.K. in 2009, having received a B.A. Honours Degree in "Drawing for Fine Art Practice" from Bath University that year, and a "Foundation Diploma in Art and Design" from Abingdon College three years earlier. Rosie is currently involved with volunteer work at the Art Gallery of Sudbury, teaching at the Parkside Centre and occasional workshops in addition to her involvement with Artists on Elgin.

"I often work experimentally with a variety of media. I enjoy exploring historical, social and conceptual themes through the use of related objects and materials. Most of my recent work has incorporated collage, print-making, painting, silverpoint drawing and assemblage." continues Rosie.

Life, Death and Letters from Home will be on display for the month of September. Artists on Elgin invites the public to come in and meet the artist during the opening reception on Saturday, September 7 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
