Artists on Elgin is excited to welcome photographer Jamie Ruddy for his solo exhibit entitled Memory and Imagination. This exhibit is a visual depiction of memory, the power of the mind to remember things, and imagination, the part of the mind that imagines thing. It will be on display throughout the month of May at Artists on Elgin. The public is invited to meet Jamie during his opening reception on Saturday, May 4, 2013, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Jamie describes of his show: "Some of the images have a nostalgic reference to people and things associated with my past, while others are representational of my own mind gone wild with imagination."

Jamie's interest in photography began during his early teenage years. Since 2004, he has been working as a visual artist in the genre of photography. Jamie uses analog and digital technologies to create his images. Sometimes they are presented as pure photographic works, while other times they are manipulated by various techniques. Polaroid film manipulations and emulsion lifts are currently his favorite methods of image creation.

"Memory and imagination, both are often tricksters of the mind. They can leave one with a sense of uncertainty or doubt when attempting to recall something. Did that really happen like that; did that really happen at all?" muses Jamie.

Memory and Imagination will be on display for the month of May. Artists on Elgin invites the public to come in and meet the artists during the opening reception on May 4 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
