SUDBURY, ON – January 22, 2013– Artists on Elgin is excited to welcome artist Liz Peekstok for her solo exhibit entitled Views from Above: an Adventure in Mapmaking. This exhibit will feature abstract, watercolour paintings and will be on display throughout the month of February at Artists on Elgin. The public is invited to meet Liz during her opening reception on Saturday, February 2, 2013, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Liz speaks of her show: "Creating a series of watercolour abstractions was an artistic challenge. This series of map-like, aerial views of landscapes was partially influenced by my background in Landscape Planning and Design."

Liz became more focused on becoming an artist when she retired from teaching in 2000. Since then, she has been an active member for the Sudbury Art Club and is also an active member of the Northern Ontario Art Association (NOAA) of which she is currently vice-president.

"Often starting with just a line, a shape or a colour and through experimentation, each piece "spoke" to me, offering up the direction needed for each to morph into a coherent whole," continues Liz.

Views from Above: an Adventure in Mapmaking will be on display from February 2 to 28. Artists on Elgin invites the public to come in and meet the artists during the opening reception on February 2 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Artists on Elgin is located at 168 Elgin Street, and is open Monday to Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
