SUDBURY, On – Monday, October 29, 2012 – Artists on Elgin is honored to host an exhibit of new work by renowned painter Ivan Wheale. The exhibit, Untouched Lake Huron, will have its opening reception at Artists on Elgin on Saturday, November 3 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. Untouched Lake Huron opens on Saturday, November 3 and will be on display until Friday, November 30. The collection will feature new oil paintings inspired by his surroundings.

"This collection of work by Ivan is absolutely exquisite and this exhibit has something for everyone. The subjects vary and the collection features many different sizes", explains Shelby Ramm, Marketing & Sales Manager for Artists on Elgin.

Ivan Wheale is one of the most successful and recognizable artists in Northern Ontario. He was born Sunderland, England in 1934, and settled in Sudbury in 1957. In 1975 Ivan moved to Manitoulin Island, where he now resides. Throughout his career, Ivan has held 86 solo exhibitions and his work has been exhibited in 62 group exhibitions. His works hang in 42 public and corporate collections, including the Royal Collection and the Dean's Collection at Windsor Castle in England, the Government of Ontario, and the Parliament Buildings in Ottawa. His numerous accolades include an Honourary Degree L.L.D. from Laurentian University, the Rotary International Paul Harris Award, and awards from the Ontario Ministry of Culture, the Ontario Arts Council, and the Canada Council.

Untouched Lake Huron will include 17 oil paintings comprised of mixed subjects all relating to areas in the North Channel. Untouched Lake Huron opens Saturday, November 3 and will be on display until Friday, November 30. Ivan Wheale will host an opening reception on Saturday, November 3 at Artists on Elgin from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., which the public is encouraged to attend. He will give an artist talk at 2:00pm. Artists on Elgin is located at 168 Elgin Street, and is open Monday to Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
