Fancy to a Tee

SUDBURY, ON – January 15– The Northern Artist Gallery is proud to announce that their exhibit “Fancy to a Tee” for the month of February will consist of repurposed wearable art made by Nancy Laviolette. The opening reception will be held on Saturday February 9 from 1pm to 4pm.

Growing up Nancy was influenced by her grandma who would take clothing no longer useful and turn them into blankets and quilts. She now takes pieces found at the end of driveways and thrift stores and gives them a new life.

She uses graphic t-shirts and turns them into kilts, dresses and tunics. Where creativity is possible garments are 100% upcycled. Nancy takes pride in this because the clothing would otherwise be landfill bound.

Artists on Elgin encourages and welcomes the public to stop in between February 1-28 to witness the refashioned items Nancy has created in “Fancy to a Tee”.
